This educational tool has been designed to help clinicians in the management of patients with diabetes who present with a possible infection of a foot ulcer.
The e-tool is to be used alongside local guidelines.
Clinicians should refer patients presenting with a new foot ulcer to a member of the multi-disciplinary diabetic foot ulcer team within 24 hours, in line with the NICE CG10 and 'Putting feet first' pathway.
This tool is to be used as a guide to integrate the clinical presentation with point of care tests for inflammatory markers, to assist antibiotic prescribing decisions.
